Who We Are

When it comes to dog training, there are A LOT of choices. Some are inexpensive, but you really do get what you pay for. Some offer group classes that promote socialization, which is very helpful for your puppy; but there is a trade-off. Your puppy cannot attend a group class until he has his final set of shots at 16 weeks. That's 4 months old - more than enough time to pick up bad habits. Paw Control offers in-home formal training that can begin right away to take advantage of your puppy’s natural instinct to learn from a very early age. We also offer pre-puppy training to get you ready to start training from the moment you pick him up. It's never too early to start training and some bad habits can be stopped before they start. 

Some dog trainers will teach you a pre-set program, and any problems you have outside the parameters of the program can sometimes get vague or inadequate responses. At Paw Control, we take ownership of the whole training process with a program tailored to your dog’s specific needs; housebreaking, biting, jumping, resource guarding, separation anxiety, chasing cars, walking on a loose leash. You name it and we will do our best to address it. We will work with you to make your dog a good canine citizen, whatever it takes. In addition to our comprehensive program we also offer extra sessions for socialization, introduction to an off-leash park, or just extra practice for what has already been learned; whatever you need. 

Because our sessions take place in your home, all family members can take part and learn the training techniques. In fact, we encourage it. 

A personal favorite is the get-together, where clients bring their dogs to a secure area (such as a fenced backyard) to interact with other client dogs, with the trainer present to address any issues that need work, such as timidness, dog aggression or resource guarding. And, of course, the perennial issues; biting, jumping, barking, etc. These get-togethers can be tailored for small dogs, large dogs, senior dogs, etc. We also organize pack walks. 

We are available by email, text or phone to answer your questions and guide you through the training process, right up to a confident, calm and obedient dog that you feel good about taking wherever possible; family gatherings, a friend's house or a pack walk.
